RESPECT YOUR TALENT is a trailblazing talent support programme co-developed by the European Handball Federation (EHF) and TW1N to promote the holistic development of young players’ careers; on and off the handball court.
RESPECT YOUR TALENT contributes to player environments that allow European talents to grow from grassroots level to elite handball. To this end, the programme is gradually building a rich portfolio of activities that target both talented players and their handball ecosystems.
In the programme’s pioneering approach, the world’s best handball players supported by leading field experts inspire and instruct young athletes covering topics such as dual career, anti-doping, sports law, media or integrity of sport.
Furthermore, RESPECT YOUR TALENT serves as a central source of competence, assisting the European handball family with training, research and network opportunities to foster sustainable pathways of aspiring players. TW1N has designed the methodical and dedactical concept of the programme.
A NEW TYPE OF TALENT SUPPORT
A NEW TYPE OF TALENT SUPPORT
RESPECT YOUR TALENT elevates the concept of role models. Ambassadors take on an active teaching function when it comes to talent support. The programme features handball stars such as 2019 IHF World Handball Player of the Year Stine Bredal Oftedal, Olympic champion Kari Aalvik Grimsbø or Champions League winner Andrea Lekić.
The initial activities comprise a Europe-wide workshop tour linked to international handball tournaments and exclusive off-court training camps for the most talented girls and boys in European handball. So far, almost 300 talented players from 18 European countries have participated in RESPECT YOUR TALENT activities since 2019. From 2021 on, new activities will be implemented.
